Page Load Analysis Tool To Speed Up Your Website

Here is a great page load analysis tool (and it is free) to help you speed up your website. Page Load time plays a major role in determining your sites speed and quality. Keeping your page load time to a minimum will certainly keep your visitors happy and coming back to your site. While a slow loading site may deter people from coming back at all.

In all probability, the number one factor that is slowing down your site, or any other site for that matter, is the use of many and or large images.

9 Tips on Keyword Placement

How many times have you typed in a keyword in a Google search and wondered “How in the world did this website make Google’s top ten?”

Well here’s a list of 9 tips on keyword placement that I’ve compiled. And, believe me I need to practice these tips more frequently myself.

    * Put keywords in the text body. The point here is the keyword is placed on the content or the main points of a page on your website. Please note if you want to put the keywords in the text body do not be too often repeated, may be considered spam by search engines. Keep your body text contains a minimum of 200 words that are relevant.

    * Put the keyword in the title of each web page (Title).

    * Put your keywords in headings (H1 or H2), usually placed in the first paragraph of each page.

    * Put keywords in the links text.

    * Write your keywords in the first 20-30 words on your pages.

    * Put the keyword in the last paragraph of the content of your pages.

    * Put keywords in your website domain name. I didn’t know any better and did not practice this tip myself. Though I know many people who have named their website or blog after themselves.

    * Place your keywords in image ALT text.

    * Put keywords in the text attributes Tittle (ALT Text) of a link.

Want to add to the list? Do you feel these are not the top 9? Drop a comment and let’s discuss it.

An Easy Way To Protect A Laptop In Public Places

There is an easy way of making your laptop safer while you’re in a coffee shop,
library or other public place. Chaining up your laptop to a table would be
helpful to protect your laptop. However, if you do not want to carry a heavy
duty laptop cable and lock, you can try free laptop alarm software. There is no
metal cable and lock to buy and carry if you are using the free laptop alarm
software. You simply connect your laptop to a power outlet or fasten your laptop
to a table by using a USB flash drive strap. The alarm software will emit a loud
siren sound when your laptop is disconnected from the power outlet or removed
from the table. For example, a thief snatched your laptop while you’re in
washroom or paying no attention to your laptop.  (See how to fasten a laptop to
a table: www.lalarm.com/en/KB2_Lock_Laptop_Alarm.htm)

In addition to sounding an alarm, the software can send an alert to your mobile
phone. The alarm software also provides other features that could prevent your
sensitive information and your identity from being stolen such as destroying
data in case of laptop theft. The software “LAlarm” is free for personal use and
is available at: www.lalarm.com/LaptopAlarm

How To ‘Leech’ On Swarms Of Google Search Engine Traffic!

Posted with permission of original author.

View original article here:

http://fabiantan.com/2009/09/how-to-leech-on-swarms-of-google-search-engine-traffic/

I’ve got some GREAT content for you today! You may or may not have heard of this Google traffic system. Either way, if you’re not using it yet, you’re missing out on tons of highly-targeted traffic. Here is how to get started:

Step 1 - Do a search on Google for some of the main keywords in your market.

Step 2 - Make a list of all the top 20 sites for each keyword.

Step 3 - Look for blogs or websites that sell advertising space such as banner ads or Adsense ads.

Step 4 – Buy an Adwords Placement Targeting ad spot on the blog/website to get your ad amongst the Adsense ads. Placement Targeting, unlike normal search Adwords, allows you to place ads on specific sites. Bid high to have your ad occupy the whole Adsense block, get the high CTR (click through rate), then lower your bid after one or two weeks. You can also buy a banner ad on the site if they sell it or you can ask them if they would sell a banner ad spot to you.

Example: I did a Google search on ‘home business’ and found a site called http://www.homebusinessmag.com that sells banner ad spots.

HomeBusinessGoogle

To set up Adwords Placement Targeting, go to Settings in your Adwords account, scroll down the page and you’ll see this option to choose how to advertise your offer:

GoogleContentNetwork2

Choose Content Network and choose “Relevant pages only on the placements I manage”. This allows you to target SPECIFIC sites to advertise on!

Learn more about Placement Targeting at Google’s official site or look deeper into it at:

https://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=107914

More ways to get traffic by leeching off sites on Google:

- Consider being a guest author to get your own articles on the blog/website and get traffic. This is a GREAT way to leech traffic and gain credibility in your niche!

- Subscribe to the RSS feed using Google Reader and Bloglines if it is a blog and post a comment whenever a new post is made.

- ‘List swap’ with the list of the owner (eg if you have a list of 1000 subscribers, ask the website owner if they would like to do a cross-promotion – you send their offer to 1000 subscribers and they send YOUR offer to 1000 subscribers)

- Exchange banner ad spots on each other’s home page, Thank You page or Download page.

- Link exchange to build backlinks to increase your Google Page Rank for higher search engine positioning.

- Article commenting. If it is a high-trafficked article on an article directory, put in a short comment to get your website link in there.

- Interview the website owner as part of your audio or video product and then invite your new joint venture partner to promote your product when it’s finished.

Step 5 - Expand this system into long-tail keywords (keywords consisting of three/four words or more) and other search engines like Yahoo and MSN.

Step 6 - Study the backlink structure of the top sites and create a blog/website for each keyword to enter and break into the top 20. Do a search on Yahoo or Google like this – link:urlhere.com to see what sites are linking to it and contributing to the high search engine positioning of the site.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Don’t forget to leave your comments/feedback in the comments section…

-Fabian

How to Backup Data From A Broken Computer

1. Go to a Best Buy or any other store that carries a wide variety of computer parts and accessories. Ask the salesperson for a USB Hard Drive Enclosure. They come in a 2 1/2 inch size for laptop hard drives and a 3 1/2 inch size for the larger desktop hard drives.

2. Open the computer chassis to get the hard drive out of the broken computer.

3. Disconnect both cables that are attached to the back of the hard drive. Check for any screws which may still be attached to the hard drive.

4. Now it is time to open up the USB Hard Drive Enclosure box that you bought. There is no need to open the chassis of the working computer. A USB wire should have been included with your kit. You need to attach this wire to the working computers USB port.

5. You should see a message on your screen which reads New Hardware Found. Go to Windows Explorer or My Computer and find the hard drive from the broken computer. Depending on the number of hard drives or CD/DVD drives you already have on the working computer the letter of the newly attached hard drive most likely will be F, G, or H.

6. If the broken computer was truly broken and the hard drive survived you will now be able to move your data over to the working computer. If you receive an error message when trying to access the newly attached drive then the damage to the broken computer may be the drive itself and not a corrupt Operating System.

5 Best Ways To Speed Up Your Computer

Here are some basic steps you can take to ensure that your PC runs as smoothly as possible. Some of these steps will actually cure what ails your system.

1. Empty your Internet cache.

Firefox: Tools -> Clear Recent History… -> Here you can choose a time range to clear choose “Everything” .

Internet Explorer 8: Tools -> Internet Options -> On the General tab under Browsing History chose Delete… -> Here you can pick and choose from options. when you are ready hit Delete then OK.

Opera 10: Tools -> Delete Private Data… -> Here you may click Detailed Options if you wish. Either way then hit Delete.

2. Free up disk space.

Empty Recycle Bin.

Remove installed programs that you no longer use. Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.

Use Disk Cleanup: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup.

Empty your Temp Folder. Reboot and immediately empty your Windows Temp folder. Please note to make sure that you can see your hidden folders before beginning.

Remove optional Windows components that you do not use.

3. Streamline programs you have running at startup.

Check this site for information http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php on which programs you have running at startup and which are necessary and which you can disable.

Use the application’s options to prevent it from running at startup. If this is not possible use MSCONFIG. Start -> Run… -> and in the box type MSCONFIG. Choose the startup tab and you will see the programs that are running on your computer at startup. Just remember that MSCONFIG is more of a diagnostics tool so it may not always prevent an application from running at startup. This is why you should use the application itself to enable or disable startup procedures.

4. Scandisk and defrag

Make sure you use scandisk and defrag on a regular basis. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools.

5. Keep spyware and malware at bay

This can really hurt the performance of your computer. So, use google to search for free programs or invest in a good spyware and or malware combination program.

Get Mail Alerts For Multiple Gmail Accounts With Spiffy

Spiffy is a small utility that will check up to two Gmail accounts and notify you of any incoming mail. Same concept as the Firefox extension I wrote about awhile back though the extension does much more. The application has a very basic interface and runs in the system tray and shows a pop up when new email arrives.
