Recently (pardon the pun) I showed you how to Clear My Recent Documents in Windows XP. Here I’ll show you how to Clear My Recent Items in Windows XP. The process is eerily similiar. Here’s how to do it.

1. From your Taskbar, right click and then select Properties.

Firebug 1.3.3

Firebug133

As a companion to my review of Web Developer 1.1.6, I suggest Firebug 1.3.3 for Firefox 3.0.11 for your web design and development needs. Remember to note the version because there is another version of Firebug (1.4b1) which is only compatible with Firefox beta 3.5b4 or higher.

As I already previously mentioned in the review noted above do yourself a favor and download this handy plugin for your web design and development needs. You can edit, debug, and monitor your CSS, HTML, and Javascript and more live in any web page.

Firebug has helped me on numerous occasions with my debugging. Just the other day I was baffled by something with my vBulletin software and Firebug helped me find the necessary code that I needed to fix.

You can have Firebug take up your whole screen or you can adjust it take up just a little bit of your screen real estate as I do.

Desktop blogging software review: BlogJet

Blogjetpic

Though I can’t admit to using all the desktop publishing applications that are available for use, in my opinion there is none finer than BlogJet. As of this writing I’m waiting for a response from Dmitry so I can install BlogJet on another computer of mine. I’m not thrilled about having to use the WordPress engine when I’m on said computer. Something I’m entitled to do because I purchased a single license at the low price of $39.95. They do offer a 30 day trail period for the unsure.

I’m impressed with BlogJet’s clean interface, support, and the software’s options such as tags, timestamp, smiley insertion . I love how I can add hyperlinks and pics with ease. Using BlogJet for me is a complete joy.

If there’s anything I’d file a complain about it would be that BlogJet currently doesn’t support native tags in WordPress, so it posts them as a part of the post body. WordPress doesn’t recognize them there, so it cannot show them in “popular tags”. From what I understand this will be implemented in the next version of BlogJet. Currently native tags work with Movable Type blogs only.

WordPress 2.8 has arrived

Remember when I wrote WordPress 2.7 has arrived? Well, now WordPress 2.8 has arrived. And, since the advent of 2.7 it is now easier than ever to upgrade your WordPress installation. Now you can automatically update your entire WordPress installation straight from your WordPress admin panel. This new feature is called Core Update. Please check the core update host compatibility list before proceeding.

Another quick down and dirty way to upgrade WordPress is to use the automatic WordPress plugin from Techie Buzz. This fine plugin will have you upgraded and up and running in a matter of moments.

Last, but certainly not least is the way I did it before WordPress 2.7. I manually uploaded my files to my web server using FTP. This gave me full control of the files but is the most time consuming of the methods though it is considered by some the most reliable way of upgrading WordPress.

Though I upgraded manually a few different ways this is the most efficient way of going about it. As long as you are at the latest version come update time. Why not use a file comparison utility? A file comparison utility will help you compare and merge the differences between versions of files. Updating only your changed files will get you to the newest version of WordPress quickly and maybe when it is time for the next update you will be less apt to put if off.

Again, there are many ways to upgrade WordPress manually choose whichever method works best for you.
